If November is the season of gratitude then December is surely the season of giving and sharing gifts. Personally, I relish the search for an especially meaningful Christmas gift for a loved one, and I enjoy looking for that gift all year long. My effort is rewarded when the gift is opened on Christmas morning, and my loved one looks at me with joy and delight shining in their eyes. That’s all the thanks I need. At that moment my heart is overflowing with the immense pleasure of making someone happy, and I truly feel why “it is more blessed to give than to receive”.
Christmas morning gifts are delightful, but let’s also talk about a meaningful gift we can give away every day…even to people we don’t know…at all. I’m talking about kindness…and what a perfect gift it is. First of all, it won’t deplete your bank account or take you beyond your credit limit. Secondly, you feel good sharing your kindness, the person receiving the kindness feels good, and if there are observers nearby, the spirit of kindness reaches out and touches them too. Wow! Need I say more? It’s Christmas for everyone, every day.
Mark Twain said “Kindness is a language the deaf can hear and the blind can see.” I agree, it’s a language we all know, and like any language, we need to practice using it over and over until we become fluent.
Here’s to kindness and Christmas for everyone, everyday!
Lovely reading early morning…
